Outside it is quite attractive if a bit won't. Inside as you enter it is quite dull, mainly brick. However the crypt was rather good, vaulted with columns and some nice marble work. The apse had a good mosaic ceiling. So, good in part, dull in part.
the first time an artist signs his work. fascinating inside and wonderful outside. worth a stop for a visit on the road between bologna and milan
It's the main attraction of Modena. Located centrally and one can really enjoy this place. There ample amount of cafeterias and pizzerias for the Italian food lovers. Additionally, I saw that there are many shops of historical antique pieces. A must visit place in Modena.
The Romanesque duomo is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. We were very surprised to find out that it's completely free to enter and that it was not crowded on a Sunday in September. There were only a handful of people when we visited around 2pm. Tranquil and beautiful.
Maybe the Duomo is not impressive in terms of size as other churches in Italy but both its exterior and interior are full of discoveries. I particularly like the terra-cotta opera in the left side, among other precious parts. Discover yourself!
