The Royal College Seminary of Corpus Christi, known as the Patriarch, is an institution founded in 1583 which had as its main mission to train priests according to the spirit and provisions of the Council of Trent, as stated the founder himself in San Juan de Ribera their constitutions, becoming the paradigm of the Counter-Reformation in Valencia. It was declared a National Monument in 1962. In addition to the relevance of their church decorated with fresco paintings by Matarana or its cloister, one of the best examples of Renaissance architecture with columns made of Carrara marble, among the works of art-historical importance that are preserved in our Museum highlights paintings by Caravaggio, El Greco, Van Der Weyden, Benlliure or Pinazo Ribalta and others, as well as the original manuscript of the posthumous work of Sir Thomas More, martyr British chancellor of the church, written during his imprisonment in the Tower London before his execution that took place on July 6, 1535. This valuable manuscript, called 'Instructions and Prayers' or 'Tristia Christi (The Agony of Christ)', which can be considered a true spiritual testament, was saved by his daughter Margaret, who did reach Spain with the help of Emperor Charles V.

Take the time to visit. Not only beautiful, but hearing the priests/monks singing was a wonderful and unexpected surprise

The guided tour (for which advance reservations are required) is interesting, but as other reviewers have commented, it doesn't allow enough time to savor all the beauty. The art museum can be visited without a guide (11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. daily), as can the church if one attends a service. Every day except Monday there is a service at... 更多

The building and its history are unique, both historically and architecturally. The guided visit, which can so often be a drag, was an absolute delight, with real insights and value-added, helping us to see things that we might have missed, and adding anecdotes pf interest to the experience. 100% to be recommended.

Went on a guided tour, from the website this appeared to be the only option to visit, however the guide was engaging and informative and the tour was in English. The museum holds paintings by Caravaggio & El Greco, manuscripts from Thomas More and many other beautiful artefacts. The building itself is stunning, the architecture, and in particular the frescos... 更多

A seminary with a Renaissance cloister, small museum and church. We were greeted by a friendly staff. It was 2 Euros to visit the museum. You can see the 2 Caravaggios, an El Greco, and many works by Ribalta. A must visit!

Not a large place but the chapel and museum really appealed to us. Open in the mornings till 1pm when they then open the church next to the chapel to visitors. Great fans of Caravaggio so loved seeing his 2 paintings The Crucufixion of Saint Peter and The Kiss of Judas in the museum. Lovely friendly staff. Well worth a... 更多

You could easily pass by the entrance to this beauty without knowing what lies beyond its doors. I recommend you do not make this mistake while in Valencia. The church is right next to the ceramic museum. You can go in and wander around inside the museum and the church. Better yet, book a tour in advance via their website.... 更多

The church opened at 1 when we visited. The organist was practicing when we were visiting - which sounded great. The church was beautiful too.
