After having been to visit the monumental spectacle of the Gouffre de Padirac, this cave is at completely the other end of the size scale. It is truly a wonder of miniature stalactites, stalagmites and crystals growing in all directions. If you are expecting a cave on a grandiose scale then this is not for you, everything is very small,... 更多
Very interesting cave, not formed like so many others with a river or other large water flow, but rather the steady drip drip of water into an open space. Some very interesting takes on the usual stalactite / stalagmite story, and one massive piece which appears free standing. The story of its discovery was unusual, and easily suggest the existence... 更多
Stunning beautiful crystal cave. Like being in the center of a geode. We had a excellent guide that spoke English. She tried to accommodate us, but the cave rules are she has to give the tour in French if there any French people on the tour. Right outside the town of Les Eyzies de Taynac
The cave features stalagmites and stalactites. The tour was fascinating, even if it is not feature the largest cave in the region. The guide was informative and pointed out a number of unique features. Admittedly, I was interested in Cro-magnon sites, but my wife, a geologist, was enthralled with the visit. It is of manageable size and very interesting.
The cave is small but there is lots to see and rare types of formations. Our group was quite big and it was difficult to hear what the guide was saying. The tour was in French but the guide did make an effort to translate key parts to those non-French speaking people. She spoke Dutch, English and possibly Flemish aswell!
Stalagmites stalagtites Boring boring boring and you have to pay to get told that the rock you are looking at is called "the Virgin Mary " or "dumbo" . Lovely bit of cliff outside though.
We're sorry to hear that. We're not pretending to be anything else that a cave with concretions... 更多
Our guide conducted the tour equally in French and English, taking great care to ensure our small group understood what we were being told. The cave is simply stunning, and the guide was very knowledgeable about its' formation and recent discovery. There are rarities in the calcite formations, which made the trip even more worthwhile.
Having spent hours driving through the region a cave had to be visited and we chose this one. An English speaking guide was available and she took great care to ensure we and the French speaking members were fully informed and welcomed. Very knowledgeable and enlightened us with the history of the area. Good value and well worth a visit.
A fabulous cave, very beautiful and worth seeing but despite the guide speaking English she was reluctant to translate despite half the group not speaking French. I know we were in France and yet this stubbornness to not accommodate all the English speaking visitors (from throughout the world) really does lessen the pleasure of the visit.
Here you will find stalactites & stalagmites that are not found in any other caves due to the conditions that are here at the Grand Roc. Not a huge cave, but lots to see and our guide mad e the visit interesting. We were luck in that we were all British and so the commentary was given in English but... 更多
