Firstly, it is free. There is a great history display on the ground floor charting the evolution of man and eventually linking it into the development of Coventry as a major manufacturing City which played a huge part in helping to win the second world war. Also on the ground floor a permanent exhibition exploring the story/myth of Lady Godiva... 更多
There is a truism that you rarely bother to make the effort for things which are on your doorstep! You travel to other countries, other cities & furiously go through a tick list of museums, churches, restaurants to visit. But it's oh so easy to never quite get round to visiting local museums & attractions. So I only recently visited... 更多
My wife and I went to see the current Potraits exhibition and, as ever, really enjoyed the standard achieved. The gallery and museum are a credit to Coventry and any visitor to the City should take some time to visit (+ the motor museum) to get a good sense of the history of the city. The café is good too... 更多
We came here for a few hours on Sunday and really enjoyed the exhibits.I particularly liked the hands on museum going through the eras of history from stone age to modern times.
Having been a few times, any visits I do now are usually based on the temporary exhibitions so I'm never there too long. It's also great to see the information about lady godiva and find out more about coventry heritage. I don't think I would travel far to visit in isolation, but as a part of a day out to... 更多
I had never been to Coventry before and I looked at the historic parts of the centre (more than I expected), the Cathedral ruins and the nice modern cathedral and wandered into the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum. I only visited the Museum part on the ground floor and it is well worth a visit. I liked the Lady Godiva... 更多
A good all but free day out for the kids with good activities at school holidays all be it at a small cost when joining in the activities but still a bargain in my opinion, get the adults involved too.
It looks small on the outside and it's free so I assumed it wouldn't have much inside. I was wrong! The museum has a range of exhibits all with incredibly interesting objects and the right amount of writing. It's child friendly but also suitable for adults. There are sections about Coventry but also general historical bits too. Although the layout... 更多
The experience of visit to the Herbert Art Gallery starts from the walk from Coventry city centre soaking in history, past Lady Godiva statue and old church, remains of bombed cathedral and new cathedral. At the end of the steps of Coventry Cathedral looking right is the Herbert Art Gallery. Free entrance, and one is advised to have a cup... 更多
