Although it is only partially present, the historical boards around the grounds and the path up to the castle hill provide a sense of experience that takes you back in time. It'sa little way off of the beaten track and hi almost hidden from view. When you have climbed to the castle to the road, you can walk around and look at it and have a sandwich or something. There's not much to see and learn about it.
Free parking and entry. Plenty of space and a great visitor centre.Toilets are on site. Great views all over Stafford from the castle, and interestng sculptures and information boards around the grounds. Disappointing that there is no tea rooms/cafe.
The history of this castle was fascinating which we found out about from the visitor centre before going up to the castle itself. The castle is now in ruins but the walk up was very informative as we followed the plaques which are numbered to guide you. The views from the top were lovely, a very pleasant way to spend... 更多
I use this venue often to walk my dog, it is dog friendly, water bowl and tap, and free parking. Lovely to see the seasons changing over the months. Good place to take children and the are is well supplied with information boards about the local wildlife and fauna and also. the history of the castle. Look out for the... 更多
We stopped off on a long journey and the castle provided a good break. It is a shame that the visitor centre was not open: I am sure that it would have added to our enjoyment (check the dates). There is a series of interpretation stations around the site but it was a bit too muddy to follow the trail... 更多
