An extremely interesting museum, well cared for and laid out. We arrived very soon after the 10.30 opening and, apart from a rather noisy foreign school party we managed to avoid, we pretty much had the place to ourselves. We particularly enjoyed the Arthur Ransome...更多
This is a small museum so plan on seeing it in one to two hours. The exhibits are well displayed and info boards provide additional information. Unfortunately besides the entry fee you have to pay for parking. Best for rainy days.

Although it is labelled Lakeland Life, a lot of what you see could also relate to other parts of the country. Fascinating insight into how life was in bygone years and some interesting background stories to some of the exhibits.
The museum is presented in a series of rooms from homes and businesses dating back to the mid-1700s all the way to the early 1900s. The local economy of the period is explained and a village streetscape is presented. There is a lovely gift shop....更多

Lovely little museum. Children loved it and lots of interest for all of us. Arts and Crafts movement, Arthur Ransome, great reconstructions of rooms etc.
Very good museum, giving a good flavour of life in the area through the ages. Well worth a visit. Static displays but all have good explanation panels.
