If you're a fan of Wordsworth, a visit to Hawkshead Grammar is a must. Preserved almost exactly as it was in the 1800s when Wordsworth attended, you can even see where he carved his name into his desk! The guide was very friendly and informative...更多
We had a pleasant half hour in here with a lovely gentleman explaining things to us. We found it interesting and informative and could relate our 50's schooling with some of what we saw. Reduced rate of entry for us oldies.
Whilst the Wordsworthian connection doubtless brings many people scurrying to this ancient building, it is important and enjoyable enough to stand up in its own right for what it is: a rare relic of local, philanthropic education before government assumed this responsibility for its citizens....更多
Been to Hawkshead many times but never seen inside this really historic building. The gentleman who showed us around really knew what he was talking about and make the visit enjoyable. Definitely worth a visit .
Easily missed but well worth entrance fee. Excellent history chat by the caretaker and, if you like history, a really good insight into the life and times of Wordsworth
Wordsworth's school is a must-see museum. Not just because of it's association with the poet but for a glimpse into the past as how schools once were. The school is quite small and a visit takes little time but everyone should pay it a visit....更多

Wonderful insight into an old grammar school. The person on duty there provided lots of extra info about the curriculum and school life. Well worth a visit - not expensive.
It wpuld be easy to walk past this historical school as the sign outside says Hawkshead Grammer School but it should not be missed for a very small fee you get a taste of our education system from the past as you learn from the...更多
