I always start from Troutbeck Institute and Old Post Office cafe because you get better views of Lake Windermere than if you just start at Ambleside and finish at Bowness. A short way up Robins Lane you are rewarded with the best views over the lake. The total distance to Ambleside on this very easy walk is no more than... 更多
This is a great little walk for those who don't want to attack a big Fell. The natural scenery on the way up is amazing and then you get there and the view will knock your socks off. It's also doable with young kids, but watch them at the edge!
We first discovered this spot 3 years ago on our first visit to the Lakes and we keep coming back. It offers a beautiful view over Lake Windermere and the surrounding countryside, and is just a short walk through Skelghyll Wood before you find it. If you continue up through Skelghyll Wood you can meander through country lanes, past the... 更多
I ride a mountain bike and really enjoy riding a route that finishes of dropping down the Jenkin Crag's rocks ... Always take a few minutes at the top to take in the great views and chat with a few of the walkers ... Although beware the rocks are slippy when wet as just last week I had a slip... 更多
Found this little walk after reading about it on my breakfast menu. It actually starts right next to The Lake House hotel were we say ed. Not far to some fantastic views over lake Windermere. Well worth a look at.
Do the walk from Ambleside to Bowness, going via the wood on route to Troutbeck and you will pass by Jenkin Crag, where a wonderful view over Windermere is your reward. A great place to stop for a picnic lunch.
requiring reasonable fitness and/or a stout walking stick. Great views from the crag, quiet and beautiful amongst the trees. You need to have walking shoes, sunglasses and a raincoat in the Lake District even in summer, so go prepared and you will love it.
This was a leisurely walk up from Ambleside through some picturesque woodland. It is a fairly gentle walk and took less than 30 minutes from the centre of Ambleside. You can continue round and keep going all the way to the summit at Wansfell pike if you wish. The view from the Crag are well worth the short walk.
If you are visiting Ambleside and want a good view of Windermere then head for Jenkin Crag. The path starts opposite the very large garden centre. It climbs steadily uphill - the path is largely good (although a bit stony in places). If you simply want to do a return trip to the viewpoint, then most people could do it... 更多
Jenkins Crag is a relatively easy way to get a heart view over Windermere. The climb, while a bit steep isn't long and the view is well worth the effort. This can be just a quick up and down or included in a walk up or from Wansfell Pike. The views from the Pike are much better, but very much... 更多
