Well worth a visit to the Giants Fireplace. A pub in the Mermaid Inn in Rye. In the winter months a beautiful log fire burns and you can take the chill out your bones and enjoy a drink or more. You can order a pub meal or dine in the restaurant. Well worth a visit.
It's impressive, terrifically comfy and inviting on a cold day and full of nooks and curiosities. Not to miss if visiting the beautiful Rye.

I love this bar which is part of The Mermaid Inn Hotel, it is so quaint and atmostpheric, winter is the best time to visit because of the huge roaring fire, good selection of wines and spirits. Mermaid Inn is a cosy little place based upon the cobbled streets of Rye. It is a quaint and cosy place to stop and have a drink or two either inside or outside on the terrace. Very different to standard pub and worth a visit.
We arrived in this gothic bar with it's huge fireplace on the first day of our holiday to be greeted by a very helpful young man behind the bar who not only served drinks but also had an in depth knowledge of football which allowed for much conversation during the course of the evening.
