If you want an insight into the suffering of these people fleeing their country, travelling half way across the world to a piece of unfenced frozen, windswept and virtually unploughable land (where temperatures regularly drop to -40C in winter) bought without prior inspection then this is the place. great photos. much hardship
Although this venue is small, it packs quite a bit in about the history of the Ukrainians in Sask. and the prairies. Wonderful paintings depict the life.on the prairies and there are great examples of culture in their carving, clothes embroidery, music, etc. . A nice collection of Ukrainian culture and history. An easy, quiet environment to spend an hour or so. Had walked by many times, but finally had a chance to go inside and it was very nice.
A fundamental factor in the development of the Prairie provinces was immigration. The Ukrainians played a prominent role in this and the museum does a good job in presenting this history.
