this thing was not well received when what ever mayor at the time commissioned it( must have been built by his brother in-law lol) not too many people I know have ever said wow we need two of those but its there and they keep painting it so I guess its going too stay
This piece is iconic. The 'wings' of the Spirit Catcher move gently with the winds as the majestic arms reach towards the sky... I would think this is one of the most photographed pieces in Barrie - certainly the most attention drawing! Be sure to read the story at the base. Very heart warming tale.
Interesting piece and with correct lighting makes a fabulous phot. Barrie's waterfront is so clean and accessible make sure you visit this sculpture
This is a great place to sit and enjoy the view! Eye catching!!! Easy to find along the lakeshore. Just a really neat and impressive piece of artwork!
I absolutely love taking walks by the Spirit Catcher. It embodies Barrie's festive spirit, sense of community, beauty, nature, and lifestyle. Also, it is conveniently located across from Barrie's downtown core - which allows for tourists to take in beautiful scenic views and indulge in a little bit of shopping. Definitely worth the trip!
The walk around Barrie's waterfront is always a nice outing. Shady areas to rest, some seating along the way (more seating would be nice). Ice cream stand near centennial beach is also a nice stop. The gardens are lovely closer to heritage park, the end closest to mulcaster.
