We walked up to the fort. Re-enactors are everywhere to tell the history of the fort. There are also exhibits and demonstrations. Though in costume the docents will tell history as it was, not as though it is happening now.

York Redoubt was an unexpected gem. Although I'm somewhat of a history buff I had not done any research on the site. I had visited the Citadel in Halifax twice before on other trips but I was unaware of this site.

York Redoubt is awesome.
It's great for the views of the harbour and really terrific for kids to explore this outpost.
It may not be the Citadel but it's a great site that provides a good insight to historic Halifax
