Walking into the Roedde House Museum takes you to the Cities only Heritage House and offers a snapshot of the life of an immigrant family that originated in Germany and became well known, setting up the first bookbinder and printing shop in the lower mainland. But it is not just about the one family, there are also many artefacts covering... 更多

They have done a wonderful job of restoring the house to its original state. The restored house brings to life the era in which the family lived. The write-ups in each room are well done and they have many, many artifacts. The outside is beautifully landscaped as well.

After 20 years in Vancouver we finally visited this little known museum. The guide was very friendly and had many stories to tell about the history of the family, the house and the area. There were lots of original items from the era of the house and the kids were allowed to try various items. I would definitely recommend a... 更多

I was a volunteer docent at Roedde House for two years, almost every Sunday. After every tour the guests told what an excellent tour I gave. I was treated disrespectfully and harrassed by one of the Board Members. I no longer volunteer at Roedde House. I have not received a thank you for my service or an apology. I do... 更多

This 1893 late Queen Anne Revival house formerly held the family of Gustav Roedde, an immigrant from Germany and Vancouver's first bookbinder. Since 1990, the building has been a museum devoted to showing how a middle-class Vancouver family lived in the early 19th century. The 11-room, 2-story dwelling is fully furnished with period items, such as dolls, a rotary phone,... 更多

I'm writing this review purely for the jazz nights they have at the museum. (I have been to the museum as well and found it interesting/worth a visit, but the jazz nights are just exceptional). I almost don't want to write this review, as it's like a well-kept secret! The jazz nights are a wonderful way to spend an evening.... 更多

While the inside of the house has historic qualities, the outside deserves attention too with its beautiful gardens. A lovely place to sit and relax amidst the flowers and foliage, not far from Denman and so quiet even though it's in the middle of the city. You can wander into the garden of the adjoining property with another character residence... 更多

The best and the only heritage house that has been preserved and still standing in the middle of the heart of Vancouver. The inside and out of the house is stunning. The staff and the people who look after the house has made a lot of effort to maintain the beauty of it. Friendly and very warm welcome to all... 更多

We visited the museum on a rainy day, and the guide spent about 2 hours going through the history of the area and the old house. Fascinating exhibits, a lovely break from the usual sightseeing. $5 admission, cheap for anything in Canada, is money well spent. In that great area down the bottom end of Robson St near Denman, worth... 更多

Walked past this place a few times, but decided to arrange a group visit with colleagues. We were not disappointed, lots of shared memories explored and we all enjoyed the story of the Roedde family. A very down-to-earth story of early Vancouver, and its connection with Europe, and indeed other parts of the British Empire. Loved that there was a... 更多

A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
