If you go to Marigot, you cannot miss the Fort. A short hike, kind of steep stairs, take your time and it is all worth it. Get to the top, read about the Fort and just sink yourself into the 360 view of the area.
what a great view of the harbor and some understanding of the area. we hired a local to drive us around the whole island with some suggested sites and he added some more for our 7 hour tour. there was no need to rent a car or worry about getting into accidents or to worry how to get somewhere the... 更多
Not far from the main drag, a nice view of the surrounding beauty - the Iguana though are a bit scary! They will run around near you and scare the fruitcake out of you.
To a newcomer, the area from Simpson Bay to Marigot-Sandy Ground is a confusing place. Waterways, old twisty one-way streets, few street signs or building numbers. But from the top of old Ft. Louis, it all makes perfect eye-popping sense. While it’s an immediately-recognizable edifice and can be seen from all over town, the foot-path up to Ft. Louis isn’t... 更多
a good bit of steps to go all the way up, but trust me the view the sun the air is worth it its a MUST SEE if you are on the french side of the island...
This is a reasonably well maintained historical fort in Marigot. The walk can be demanding. The view of the city and bar is spectacular. There is a so so historical discussion provided by a sign at the onset of the walk. Again, St Marteen hasn't done the best job of developing its historical sites.
Last May 2016 friends from the Toad decided to join us on a ride around the island. We drove into Marigot & decided to take a walk up to Fort Louis. All the times I've been to SXM we never walked up to the fort. Parked & started our walk up the dirt path. If you have any problems walking... 更多
The walk up to the fort was not as long as we had anticipated, very much an activity that most people could do from in town. Once you are up at the Fort you are able to see incredible views in every direction, both seaside and countryside views of the island. The fort itself is a very worn down site,... 更多
Worth the climb and litter-dodging on the path out of town. We enjoyed the fort itself and the little bit of history on the signs around the site. Then we sat and watched the view until lunch time.
When you are in Marigot, don't miss walking up to the fortress. You can spot it easily when you are in town and it is only a short walk uphill which will be rewarded with spectacular views.
