Getting in and out of the water is a little difficult due to some quite slippery and unstable rocks. However, once in, the water is warm - from all those gas vents - and swimming through the bubbles is different. Plenty of fish - parrotfish, tangs and snapper - and some attractive corals. This is not in a bay so... 更多
We stopped by not knowing how good this place is for snorkelling. The bar is welcoming and the food very good. You have to pay a small fee to the National Park $5EC per person but the snorkelling is easy access via a rubber mat down the rocks and very worthwhile,
Apparently this is pretty common...you arrive and the guides announce that the water is too rough. There are a few other places where the water bubbles, and they are in sheltered areas protected from rough water.
The water was very clear with good visibility when we went. Just took our own gear to the far end of the beach. Right after launching in you could see the air vents with the bubbles shooting out and it was fun as the bubbles tickled you as you swan over them. The reefs were in decent shape and there... 更多
Just a ways down the road from Roseau you will find Champagne beach. The beach itself is 99% rocks but you don't go here to lay down in the sand. Snorkeling is what you do here and it costs 5 EC per person. There is a restaurant as well as a rental shop for any equipment one may need. The... 更多
Wonderful snorkeling and the bubbles are pretty cool, but they're definitely overrated. We went with our own snorkel gear and didn't have a tour and liked going at our own pace. Great fish and coral sightings, but really--the bubbles are not very spread out and tour groups kinda take over. So don't go just for the bubbles or you'll be... 更多
I hate snorkelling and I really enjoyed doing it at Champagne Reef! The sulfur bubbles were pretty subdued on the day we went, but the impact that the hot vents have on the surround reef are very obvious. There were so many species of fish, and some of the biggest sea urchins I have ever seen. We saw pufferfish and... 更多
We only snorkeled at the reef, and didn't spend time at the beach. They had a lot of rain the day before, so the water wasn't as clear as we expected, and we didn't see as many fish as we have on other islands in the Caribbean. Toilets, picnic table and small snack bar.
The warning is about the "beach". There isn't one. Other reviews have mentioned pebbles. They were really pretty large rounded rocks. The walk to the snorkeling spot is not too bad, but getting into (and out of) the water is not easy. But once in - what a great snorkel. The bubbles are cool. The water is clear. The fish... 更多
