Visit if you are in the area & have a car. We took the SP route from the Cava Grande on our way to Noto. Worth a wander round on a nice day but English guide leaflet of limited info & few signs to say where you are. If visiting palazzolo acreide then pop in but don't drive out especially.... 更多
Palazzolo Acreide is a small hill town one hour drive from Siracuse. On it's highest point there is a small but very well preserved greek theatre. A very nice trip up in the mountain but remember to bring some extra cloth. It is much cooler up here than down along the cost.
This small evocative greek theatre is very well preserved and benefits from an enviable position, on the highest gound of Palazzolo: not to be missed.
We stopped in Palazzolo Acreide on the way from Comiso to Syracuse. Nice country drive. The site was deserted, and a bit run down. Little or no explanations or signs (except in a small building but all in Italian). But it was so nice to stand all alone in this theatre and enjoy the panorama all the way to mount... 更多
In fact we were visiting Siracuse mainly for the archeological park. The walk through the park was nice. However 3/4 of the Greek Theatre was covered with grey shelfs. It is ok that they try to protect this ancient ruins, but what if yo cannot see anything of this historical site. Anyway this was a big disappointment.
As said before, it is uncrowded so if you want a quieter attraction, this is the place. A great view from the top as well. We were fortunate to have an Italian friend to guide us but could imagine that information boards would be difficult. Don't miss the picture carved out of the rock on the far left hand side!
