Bradwell is not the nicest of Peak District villages by a long chalk. But it is worth visiting just for a meal at the Samuel Fox. This place is a real find; beautifully cooked and presented food at a fair price. It's an oasis in a desert of microwaved and boil-in-the-bag pub eateries that litter this part of the country.... 更多
Went here as we were staying in the village and this was No 1 place on tripadvisor. Nice place v smart inside. Friendly staff. Lovely meal (braised beef cheeks) but could have done with more seasoning & sauce! Limited menu choices, only 5 for each course, so if you're fussy or restricted ( I'm Coeliac) you may struggle. Starters around... 更多
We visit the Peak District a lot and are often disappointed when we dine out. Our meal tonight at the Samuel Fox was great. Sophisticated but unpretentious, good ingredients cooked with skill and imagination. The service was perfect. Thank you
Lovely overnight stay. Food amazing. Friendly staff. We were in bedroom at back no 3 overlooking car park otherwise I would give this 5 out of 5
The menu is always interesting and the food beautifully cooked and presented. Makes for a very special evening out. Only slight reservation is that wine by the glass seems very expensive.
We had a really lovely evening. Many months ago a we bought a seven-course tasting menu offer via Travelzoo and, knowing the area, we had booked for late April thinking the weather might be reasonable. It turned out to be a delightful evening with warm sunshine and we spent much of the evening regretting that we hadn't snapped up the... 更多
I'd half-heard really good things about this place but couldn't quite remember from whom or in what context! But was looking for somewhere in the area to take young children and old parents and thought this might be a good bet. I was right, and delighted to be so. This is proper cooking, properly done and with delightful, helpful and... 更多
Four of us went yesterday, courtesy of a Groupon deal, to try the seven-course tasting menu on offer. I found six of the seven courses to be truly excellent, genuinely up to the standard of higher-rated local eateries. The cheese course was disappointing, being fairly boring cheese and to share a plate between two was a let-down but overall I... 更多
Wow, we held my daughters Wedding Reception here and it was absolutelly perfect for a small intimate wedding. The food was to die for, for the meat eaters the Iron Steak was perfectly cooked and the vegetarians enjoyed the gnocchi very much. The starters and deserts were also perfect. All the guests had the same opinion. Will definatelly be regulars... 更多
Not being on my doorstep, I'm a very occasional visitor. There's been a really nice make over in the restaurant and bar since I was last here a year back, the same great views, service that's casual but attentive and friendly and, best of all fantastic food. I enjoyed a really tasty prawn bisque followed by braised beef cheeks that... 更多
I was surprised when my partner said he had booked a restaurant recommended in both the Good Food Guide and the Michelin guide, that was fairly local, and that we have never been to. Not sure how we overlooked this one. The dining room is fine and of course there is a great view at the front, bit it was... 更多
We visited as one of our regular Friday lunch outings and I can confirm that this is in the top three we have selected in the last 18 months. Relaxed bar/seating/dining area with a view of the hills. Delicious and well-proportioned servings. It is a shame we were the only diners - it deserves to be packed.
Visited here twice recently - once as a 'recce' then again with my parents for my mum's 70th birthday. The food on both occasions was absolutely outstanding - near Michelin star quality but without the associated price tag. Service was also excellent - a trainee waiter who was doing a great job and who was well supported by a very... 更多
