Must eat here if you are in Hellnar! It is at the end of the hiking route from Arnarstapi to Hellnar with beautiful views!
In researching our trip to the Snaefellsnes peninsula, the beauty of the Hellnar areas stands out. Seeing the picture of a restaurant ( Fjöruhúsið kaffihús ) at the edge of a cliff, next to a cove and the ocean, I said this is where I want to eat. So we planned our drive from Stykkishólmur to arrive for late lunch.... 更多
One of the most beautifully situated coffee shops in the world, this little cafe sits on a hillside at the Hellnar end of the Hellnar to Arnarstapi cliff trail. Parking is easy at the end of the paved road above the cafe. The coffee, tea and cakes are delicious and a welcome treat before, after or in the middle of... 更多
We came here on a beautiful sunny day with blue skies, warm weather, and Arctic terns all around. We were a large group and had the luck of sitting outside on the balcony with AMAZING views of the ocean and black caves. Service was a bit slow, but friendly. It is a very small menu and choices are limited. We... 更多
Having been recommended this cafe by an Icelandic friend as a must-visit place on our trip to the Snaefellsnes Peninsula, we walked past this cafe on our first attempt to find it, based on it's unmarked exterior & the lack of a name on the building itself. The lava beach & cliff at Hellnar are really stunning, and the perfect... 更多
Stopped here for lunch. Excellent fish soup, bread and desert hit the spot on a cold, raining and windy day. Be prepared to hunt for this cafe...it is not easily found. Down a gravel path, hidden from view, but worth the effort.
Since we were there on a tour, it got a bit overwhelming but they handled it well and the soup and bread were delicious. I wanted to lick the bowl clean. Afterwards, we walked down to the beach, looking at the lava formations and the seabirds nesting in the rocks. Beautiful and wild.
This is one of the smallest and nicest places on route in Iceland. Sigga the owner is one of a kind always smiling, helpfull. The meny is not complicated, I recoomend the soup during lunch time. Taste the local water.
You're going to have to search this place out and be patient as there are limited seats inside if the weather is inclement. The cafe is at the end of a road and then down a path just off the ocean. It's tidy and cozy and serves the best chocolate cake. Worth the trip for the view as well.
We are staying in Hellnar and this place was recommended as THE place to get fish stew on the Peninsula. We did the coastal hike from Hellnar to Arnarstapi and back and got soaked by rain. We stopped in to get fish stew and a beer on the way back. I assume it's a family business - very nice people... 更多
