Good lunch spot on the way into town. Great local Costa Rican fare and large portions. We definitely could have shared. Large menu with something for everyone.
The food was excellent and reasonably priced. It is a very casual place, though, and the chairs are not very comfortable and wine was not so good.
If you want the above this is your place. Great views over the village, friendly service although not particularly fast. Vast choice of local food on the menu, everything tasty and fairly cheap, with main course prices around 5000 colones.
We wanted something typical to CR and this was perfect. Simple and good food. Nice value. Offered to make typical kid food but we all opted for more Tico typical. FYI - we drink 'house' (tap) water all over CR and never had a problem. No need to pay extra for bottled.
Giving this a 4 star based solely on what is available in this specific area. Went to the one across from the soccer field. There is another one downtown, second floor of the newish mall. Being referred by a local vendor, this restaurant was recommended for great authentic food and inexpensive. Our trip to Monteverde, we ended up eating there several times during our stay.
