Have dined here for special occasions, casual moments and business dinners. The experience has always been very enjoyable and gastronomically wonderful. From a pallet pleasing array of Oysters from both sides of the country, to beautifully prepared seasonal apps, entrees and sides, you are sure to spoil your taste buds and cravings for dishes beyond the usual fare. Service has... 更多
We first ate at The Optimist in March while on a business trip. It was fantastic and we made a reservation when we returned in May with our son. It was difficult to get reservations, as it is very popular. The oysters were still great, but the service was not as fabulous as our first visit.
Never been to Atlanta, so needing a recommendation dined here with my husband for his birthday this evening. When considering where to go for dinner, not being situated right along the Eastern Seaboard, seafood didn't jump to the forefront of possibilities. HOWEVER it was all just perfect from the fab selection of oysters to my perfectly cooked halibut, and the... 更多
Nice atmosphere and the food was above average. I ordered the whole snapper, the priciest entree on the menu. I'm a whole fish fan and have had many rd snappers. This one was average at best, the size was above average (good for leftovers!).
Its almost to good to recommend. If more people get here its even more hard to get a table. Simply the best meal I had in 2014, so so glad I got here.
A casual dinner here with business associates. Great service, staring with the hostesses. Interesting menu and superbly prepared. Laudable wine list. Waiter was happy to bring a taste of wines we didn't know. Causal atmosphere; a bit noisy but not uncomfortable for conversation. Wait staff was superlative.
We hosted a 12 person business dinner at the Optomist which was excellent. Service was great; semi private room was comfortable; food of course was terrific.
Well, the fact that West Midtown, Atlanta is hundreds of miles from the nearest ocean doesn't seem to affect The Optimist very much. They simply served us the freshest and most originally cooked seafood we ever had in Atlanta. The appetizers are so generous in size and so well-thought that they feel like main dishes themselves. The main dishes are... 更多
We arrived on time for our reservation and were seated right away. The service staff was quick, knowledgeable, and attentive. Seafood is the meal and that is the reason to come here. Both my wife and I had fish that was cooked very well. The entrees are not huge so for two people you would probably want to get 2... 更多
I've been here for lunch three times and once for dinner. The food is delicious. The servers are very attentive. And the atmosphere is pleasant (but it can get a bit loud sometimes). I enjoy the seafood and they also make a terrific burger at lunch. Everything is hot off the grill and very fresh.
Ok..this is so simple. Order great drinks....Get some fresh chilled shellfish and pick a good fish from the menu. The architecture is superb and you will have a great time. I've eaten here nearly 10 times and can't believe I didn't write it up.
We arrived a bit early for a reservation and were promptly seated. The service was a bit on the slow side, but our server was very friendly. The food was excellent and the restaurant is a very lovely space. Highly recommended!
The seafood here compares with the best seafood in any coastal area. Everything was divine. You can get the lobster roll (even though it's not on the dining room menu). It's a bit pricy so plan on that...great for a special occasion or a special date.
The staff was friendly, prompt, knowledgeable and unobtrusive. The chef hails from Cajun Alabama and served up extraordinary fare: rich. Well picquanted, authentic gumbo with the most extraordinary garlic bread for getting everything last drop from the bowl to grilled octopus to duck fat poached swordfish to monkfish anchored ciopino to cornmeal crusted snapper. All moist, crusty where appropriate and... 更多
I had a great experience eating at the bar here. The oysters and octopus were delicious, and the beignets were out of this world. The bartenders serve up some great cocktails as well. It seems like everyone in Atlanta knows about this place too and eats here, from CEOs to everyday people.
