Atmosphere? Just like any other chain, mid-pack, hillstone/houston's wannabe....Service, well we'll try harder next time. This used to be our favorite restaurant for business meetings; however, they recently cancelled our reservations the week before our event in order to accommodate a group from J Alexander's corporate office. They failed to offer us a reasonable alternative. What a disappointment, we were really looking forward to the evening.

I've been to J. Alexanders twice, once for lunch and once for dinner. Both times were enjoyable, if not exceptional. That's OK with me--they do what they try to do very well. This restaurant is one of many located within the St. John's Town Center shopping area. The ambiance is cozy and busy. The menu has many great choices. We ordered grilled salmon and trout. The crab cakes are pure crab...no fillers. Delicious! And the Creme Brûlée was excellent. Our server, Brad, was very good and we had such a lovely lunch. I like that they offer foods not found in most restaurants. Vegetable of the day was Acorn Squash and Stuffed Eggs for an appetizer.
