It had been about 5 years since we last visited Carmel's. We had enjoyed dinner there twice before. This time however on a Friday night, it was disappointing. We were seated immediately since there were many empty tables at nearly 7 pm. We chose to sit outside near the corner. That was all ok. The server was prompt in taking... 更多
Have tried to eat here twice. First time we waited 10 minutes after being seated with almost no-one in the place. Left as there are way to many great places wanting our $$. Second try service was better but the food was just ok. Nothing that would have us try again. Too many great places to eat to waste calorie... 更多
Chose the Mushroom and Arugula, and it was fantastic. If I wanted the best meal ever, I'd go a couple of doors down to the Mediterranean place that's got the same chef as Chorizo, but this pizza was to die for and the prices were more reasonable. More people eating at this place than any other on a Tuesday afternoon,... 更多
We just stumbled upon this restaurant while roaming around downtown Asheville. I had the candied tomato and brie pizza and it was just as good as it sounds. I had never had candied tomatoes before and the amount of cheese on the pizza evened out the sweetness perfectly. I was a little surprised though that their lunch menu was basically... 更多
Our Asheville tour took us to the Arcade for lunch and we choose Carmel's because it had the best match for our dietary concerns (no gluten or soy). Wife enjoyed a salad topped with grilled chicken. I had catfish with a side of buttermilk slaw. Our server noted that their pizzas are also available with gluten free crust. Service was... 更多
Visited over the lunch hour. Eclectic menu with interesting food items. I had a very good hamburger with interesting and flavor adding toppings. Nice atmosphere and nice location attached to the Arcade.
Our waiter was Jay and he was very nice and attentive. We started with the fried green tomatoes and they were awesome, but the chicken and waffle, flounder special, and meatloaf entrees were bland and less than enjoyable. However the pizzas and salads that we saw delivered to other tables looked great. If you dine here, just go with caution.... 更多
We stopped here for lunch and sat outside. We had a glass of wine and a Mint Julep in honor of the Kentucky Derby day. The fried green tomatoes were scrumptious. We also had a spinach salad with blueberry Stilton cheese, spiced nuts and blackened salmon. It was fantastic. Great service. A must in Grove arcade .
My extended family ate here for lunch April 20 and we all enjoyed the experience. Our party included parents in their 60's, 2 forty-somethings and our 2 teens, and 2 more in their thirties. Service was attentive and we enjoyed everything we ordered. Homemade pimento cheese was a big hit as were the fried green tomatoes. 5 of us chose... 更多
There are several places to eat while visiting Asheville. By the time we arrived downtown, we were faced with several choices though we had no idea what we wanted. When we walked past Carmel's, with its outdoors dining options, it piqued our interest. We walked up the street and back down and saw the special for the evening: Cheerwine-braised Pork... 更多
We enjoyed a Saturday lunch at Carmel's. It is in the Grove Arcade, a grand beautiful old building. They have a good section of draft beers and their pizzas were excellent. We had the buffalo chicken pizza, which was delightfully spicy. Our service was good.
We dined early evening with our 14 mo old daughter. . She seemed to be somewhat of an inconvenience to everyone. . We ordered 2 appetizers and soup.. the cheese plate was extremely overpriced and poorly done.. (I enjoy something sweet to balance out strong cheeses) the portion was pretty sad 3 cheeses... 2 tiny pieces each .. a pretzel... 更多
We went there for brunch on Sunday...we had salads, soup and drinks. It was a lovely day and we sat outside on the sidewalk patio. The location is great ...the food however was nothing special. We opted to go elsewhere for desserts. Looks like many options downtown, we will try another next time.
My husband and I arrived in Asheville later than planned, and the place we had in mind for lunch was already closed. We chose to walk around and find something else and stumbled upon this gem. Our pizza and fried green tomatoes were great, our waitress was excellent, and the outdoor patio seating was so nice for taking in the... 更多
