Near the performing arts in SF, Hayes St Grill has been one of my all time favorites for seafood and just great service.
I've been coming to this restaurant since moving to San Francisco in 1987! The quality is the same -- even some of the servers are still here. Wonderful, simply prepared seafood and salads. Order whatever they have for the fruit crisp of the day!
This is an odd, schizoid place. It looks like a nasty NYC diner with the addition of tablecloths. The waitstaff is overly familiar (like diner waiters) and rather schlubby. The food however is quite refined and belongs in a different restaurant. Prices are on the high side and correspond to the food, rather than the decor and service.
I was really disappointed and would never return. I caution you. First, the pros: 1.Service: we told the server we had tickets at the symphony and thus needed to proceed promptly. She was very prompt, very attentive. 2. Wine by the glass. They do not have much of a selection, but the fume blanc I chose was really nice. Although... 更多
In a city of good restaurants the Hayes Street Grill gets it right on so many levels. The dining rooms are sensibly sized, the sound levels never become so overpowering that conversation is impossible, the service is efficient and the food is produced with sensitivity and real skill. We had the halibut - cooked to perfection. The thoughtful wine list... 更多
We went for dinner on a Saturday night, with 7:30 p.m. reservations - after the Symphony crowd had finished dinner, and the restaurant was very quiet. Had a nice round table for the five of us and good service from Jack. As others have mentioned the seafood isn't great. I chose the grilled skate which was seems to have been... 更多
We happen to really like the Hayes Street Grill and started coming here many years ago when the menu was on a chalkboard. We live a few hours away and only go a few times a year before ballet performances, but we always feel welcome, cared for, and well fed. Yes, it's not cheap but this is San Francisco. I... 更多
Have always wanted to try this restaurant but never made it until last week when we went for an early dinner prior to a concert at the SF Jazz Center. The place was empty when we arrived but did fill up later on in the evening. Space is light and bright and simple, but some tables are very close together.... 更多
Visited on the off chance, having just arrived form the airport. Restaurant was very busy (Saturday evening pre theatre) but we were welcomed and accommodated in a nice setting. Food (fish) was simple, well presented and delicious, as was the vegetable sides. The restaurant had a lot of atmosphere and history (judging by the number of celebrity photographs.
Pleasant restaurant, with attentive staff, nice and simple atmosphere, good bar, and good food. Restaurant easily accomodated our party of six on a busy Saturday evening.
