Tried Local Roots with some friends for breakfast. I understand that it is a farm to table type restaurant. While the food is good, I think the prices seem high for what you pay. Service was very good.

It troubles me that this place is #1 in the Roanoke area. It makes me think ratings can be biased, Overrated, over priced, small entree portions, half cooked vegetables and rice I don't think they cooked at all. There has to be more going on in a restaurant than so so atmosphere and pretty plating.

We live in northern VA outside of DC. Our destination for the night was Blacksburg but we decided to stop for dinner in Roanoke. Chose Local Roots based on reviews and were so glad we did. We called while enroute and were lucky enough to get a table at around 6 pm on a Saturday on a couple hours notice.... 更多
We went Sunday night and the place was bursting at the seams with a very diverse group of diners - multi-generational families, couples on a date, groups of friends, older couples, singles. There was so much positive energy - people were having fun and really enjoying themselves. The decor and design of the restaurant was very welcoming. We sat at... 更多
By far one of, if not the best farm to table experiences I've had! First off, I love local dining, and local sourcing! The menu had the farms listed on almost every meal! All different! Picked this out online through Tripadvisor. Eclectic food with very fresh ingredients. We really enjoyed the combinations of food and the unique methods of preparations. I have never had a mushroom like the oyster mushroom. It had a flavor of campfire smoke and the mashed cauliflower was excellent. Thanks everyone for an experience in Roanoke.
Great selection of Drinks--the Abingdon Cream Brew was a good start. Smoothest beer I have had in years. The oysters on half shell was our appetizer. My main course decision was catfish with a sweet potatoe sauce . Boy what a good combination. Fish melted in my mouth. We had a caramel apple desert to end the meal-- superb! I... 更多
On the way to the Bob Dylan concert, we found Local Roots for dinner. The farm-to-table, local sourcing of ingredients is the big theme, and a tasty one at that. Our waitress took great care to tell us about all the menu items, and only mildly scoffed at me when I had to cover my mouth to cover my giggling... 更多
