The service was good. The owner was nice and polite. The food - egh. It was ok. I felt like it was watered down or something. I wanted the veggies to be in season as described and I just wanted more flavor.
When we arrived, the air was absolutely clean inside. Good, yes, but the air in Indian restaurants is usually redolent with spices. Mystery solved when the food arrived. Visited with family and thoroughly enjoyed the food and ambiance. Seeing many Asian families dining there confirms that this restaurant has been doing it right for over 20 years .Food delicious, service smart, portions ample and prices reasonable. No hesitation in recommending Shiva.
Consistently good Indian cuisine. Their standards like chicken tandoori are among the best in the city. Small, intimate dining room where you can actually carry on a conversation.
One of the best Indian food restaurants in Houston. The lunch buffet is the what I really prefer about Shiva's. Daytime, it's really nice and not far from Rice University. For evening dining I find it to feel a bit dark and dreary. Parking is also a real issue in the evening. Go there for lunch.
