Just discovered this, thanks to Tripadvisor, yesterday, and was very pleasantly surprised even after having read the already promising reviews: the food is really excellent! delicious, fine, cuisine - I had feared that some of the dishes might be heavy, but they were not at all. I had Michigan Lake perch in a creamy sauce with lemon and capers, my... 更多
During my visit to Detroit for a family reunion we stopped at this place for dinner before the rest of the family arrived. It was fantastic!! The diversity of the menu was very good. The eggplant parmigiana was cooked to perfection. The wine selection very extensive and great. The house wine, Annabella, excellent. Delicious desserts and the service, impeccable. A... 更多
Had the pleasure of having dinner at this amazing restaurant with my wife the other night. The neighborhood has seen better days...but the instant you walk in the front door you're in a whole different world. Fran, the charming proprietor/founder has done a marvelous job creating a very nice, comfortable, well-set and relaxing atmosphere. The food...two thumbs up! Her 17... 更多
My wife and I were at the Tigers baseball game with our son and his girlfriend and wanted to take them someplace nice for dinner after the game. Giovanni's had great reviews so my wife called from the game to try and get us reservations. They were jammed up but said they could fit us in if we could get... 更多
This restaurant is from the old school Italian tradition. A bit out of the way but worth the trip. All dishes are homemade. And of your traditional style. They have a excellent and extensive wine selection and bar menu. Your bill will be less than your bigger chain restaurants and food will be twice as good.
I love the ambiance, the food is outstanding and the service is great! My family goes here all the time. The lasagna is to die for. Terrible area, but totally worth it! And there's valet, so you don't really need to worry about the terrible area.
The first hint that this restaurant might really be special is when you realize where it is - tucked between a petro plant and heavy industrial factories, with the Ford Rouge River complex on the horizon. No casual drop-ins, you have to want to be here. Service is subtle and professional, from the valet to the servers. We never felt... 更多
Very few restaurants manage to combine the charm, quality and character which Giovanni's offers. Although this restaurant is tucked into an older industrial area, the place exudes warmth and old school charm. This was my first Detroit restaurant experience and the food and service were both outstanding. Giovanni's staff and management truly care about the romantic dinner experience and this... 更多
I've been passing Detroit for years going up North. We finally decided to stop to see the Detroit Museum. Checked trip advisor for Italian and went to their recommendation of Giovanni's. It could not have been better. Started with exquisitely tender-fried Calamari (with tomatoes, capers and a light sauce), followed by a spring-greens house salad (which was included) and Lasagna... 更多
