Ordered To-Go to take back to the hotel. I guess that next time I should ask for a fork and napkins. Nothing special about the enchiladas.
The food was okay, I had their nachos and they were good and my husband had the carne asada which he enjoyed. The service was great our waiter kept our drinks full and chips coming. I have 3 stars bc it was good but not great food. Average food I would say and it was kinda dirty
We go to the Monterrey at least once a month. The food is delicious Mexican food, but they do offer some American dishes for the picky eaters. Try the margaritas, but warning, the large is the size of a fishbowl and you will probably need a DD if you consume the whole thing. The wait staff are friendly and you... 更多
We've eaten at the Monterrey several times since it first opened many years ago & have tried many of the selections on their menu. Nothing really stands out although I have ordered the Quasadillas more often. The prices are average I think for the area. Our last experience was not a good one: the waiter as usual was impatient &... 更多
On my most recent visit, I ordered the vegetarian fajitas -- which included zucchini, onions, bell peppers, and tomatoes. The plate arrived with steamed broccoli and carrots on top of the grilled vegetables; I'm pretty sure that wasn't in the description. I removed the steamed vegetables and enjoyed the rest. Served with Spanish rice and beans. Waitress was very friendly.
A usual favorite has gone down hill. Salsa tasted like ketchup, chips were cold and stale. The meals were skimpy and had a lot of filler vegetables instead of meat. The restaurant was cold, which made the food grow cold quickly. Service was ok, but they did not go out of their way. Will not return.
I have eaten here several times in the past couple of months and I have yet to find anything that tastes good. My most recent meal included a chile relleno (stuffed with meat rather than cheese), a taco, and refried beans. The meat was tasteless - there didn't appear to be any seasoning and it seemed like the meat was... 更多
Mexican food, if you have never had the real stuff, can be good to anyone. However, if you were raised on Mexican food, don't go to Iowa and expect it to taste like real, or regional, Mexican food. Iowa style, or regional, Mexican food is bland. Especially at the Monterey Mexican Restaurant. The sauces seem to be from a can,... 更多
