Warm and cozy restaurant. My latest visit in the dark depths of winter, which is perfect territory for this place. Thick walls, cottage feel to the restaurant area. Took mum here for lunch last Sunday. Lovely atmosphere, friendly and welcoming, helpful staff, delicious roast beef and roast pork - the best crackling I've eaten for a long time. Thank you, Lynda and Gary.
Went for Sunday lunch, couldn't fault the food or service and a nice old pub out of the way. The wait was a bit longer than expected between courses but that was due to a bit of a mix up and the staff were very apologetic. My wife and daughter absolutely adored their sweets.
The staff at The Bear are lovely, hardworking and helpful. The menu has a fantastic selection of great food and the bar has some lovely ales (Doombar too). The food is a little pricey, but the quality of what you receive certainly matches the prices. Will be visiting again!
I ate at the Bear & Ragged Staff with some friends to celebrate a 60th birthday and the food and service was fantastic. I would highly recommend it. Gary and Linda are doing a fantastic job.
We had a voucher from Travel Zoo, and didn't expect to get such a wide choice, have to say difficult to choose from such a lovely menu. We were not disappointed, the ham hock veg terrine was gorgeous, so flavorsome with homemade piccalilli. Started with the Scallops on a bed of Black Pudding... wonderful ! Next was the Rib Eye Steak terrific....... But the Pudding selection was a little disappointing.
