Visited this quaint restaurant which was established in 1969. Very small bar with local appeal. We had oysters on the half shell and the fried perch. All was good.
A friend ssid this was his favorite restaurant! Visiting Chicago for my birthday, it was right on our walking route to the zoo. Had to check it out. A little confused, we had to walk downstairs to get to it. Remember if you go, "gentlemen remove their hats"... My guess it's for the secuity cams as THEY ONLY ACCEPT CASH!... 更多
I've been going to the Half Shell for many years. It's always great food and a fun atmosphere. The ice cold Heineken on tap goes so well with crab legs, fries and lollipop. Although you may have reservations about going downstairs into a basement to eat, it's really a treat - that's why there's always a wait. Try the sashimi... 更多
Although the ambiance is hard to find, the crab is not! Felt like we were in hideaway bar during prohibition, in the basement, dark, cash only. But you won't regret the king crab legs!! They were huge (approx. 1 pound per serving) served with a garlic butter & thin fries.
What a great place. Total dive bar and you would never expect the delicious seafood they serve up. Been going here for years and it's always been great. The only downfall is the butter. It's decent but it's not your typical clarified butter. Don't get me wrong though, the crab legs are so good they don't need butter. Also try... 更多
Great no frills neighborhood place for crab & beers. Very casual. The place is pretty small and depending on the time of day there may be a wait. You should plan sit outside and I think it may be cash only.
Every time we head to Chicago we try to go to this secret little hole in the wall! It's nothing fancy inside but they serve a generous portion of King Crab that can't be beat! And the garlic butter they serve to dip it in is amazing! As appetizers we like to get either oysters on the half shell or... 更多
Back after 11 years and decor and menu is the same. Smelt and fries light with a crunch. Yellow sauce is sweet with a kick and cocktail sauce on fries is hot. Broiled shrimp and fried perch was enjoyed by friends. Jukebox.music playing, guests arriving aroun 7:00 happily waiting for a table. Great spot to end the day after a... 更多
If we weren't coming with a local, we would have driven past this place without a second thought. A tiny set of stairs off the sidewalk takes you into a dark, crowded bar. Not the place you would expect for amazing crab legs. The crab legs are served over a bed of fries, non-descript bread and a lollipop. These had... 更多
