We came in for a couple of beers. We are familiar with Goose and their beers and we wanted to try some that aren't available in stores. Mission accomplished! We didn't eat but the food we saw looked great!
The building is very cool. The service was great. The food was very good. The beer was really, really good. We had fun on our first visit. It won't be our last.
The beer is so-so and the food is nothing special. The service on the other hand was excellent. We ordered fish tacos. You get plenty but be sure to order extra sauce because they are dry. The pork bellies were not very good but the hamburgers and onion rings were good.
Call in advance to make your reservation for the Goose Island Brewery Tour. Tyler, our tour guide, explained how Goose Island comes up with their different brews. Taste some of their beers while the unique flavor of the beers are explained. Tour and tasting take about an hour . About a ten minute walk from the North/Clybourn Red Line stop.
Loved the beer. Loved the tour. Just a fun, fun place. And food was not bad either. We were in Chicago for a long weekend and went twice.
Don't be fooled by the unassuming exterior (stripmall-ish neighborhood): this was well worth a visit! Brews are available here that not widely sold nationally, and most surprisingly, excellent food - including tasty vegetarian options (far better than the average airport bar-fare I was expecting). Enjoy!
This place wasn't really anything special. I did find it nice that the beer menu is very clear about what is brewed in house and what it going to come from another of the breweries. The food here was very good, the helpings were substantial and our waitress took very good care of us and was knowledgeable about the menus.
