This is old-style Florida fried seafood-platter restaurant - so what - it's GREAT. The service was excellent and the datil pepper sauce is fantastic. Warning: portions are big! Sharing the double order of fried shrimp and a bowl of the stellar Minorcan clam chowder is a big meal for two (and we're big eaters). Note: cash or local check only,... 更多
I don't get the reviews, people love this place, but to be honest the food is just average and the wait time too long. Barnicle Bills, Schooners, O'steens are all the same Fried, butterflied shrimp, and old fashioned sides. there are plenty of other places in St. Augustine to go, skip the line and seek out one of the others.
The food was fantastic. The shrimp was fried to perfection, even though it was fried it wasn't heavy or greasy. The hushpuppies were also a solid 10. I only gave it 4 stars because our waitress forgot the chowder and we ordered sweet potato casserole but was served coleslaw, an honest mistake but misses perfection.
I grew up in the area & have been going to this place for YEARS! The owners dance to their own tune that obviously works. It is a "local secret" that is well known......the fried shrimp is great......even if you are not big on fried ANYTHING....if you are, you're golden. They do have things broiled on the menu. I actually... 更多
O'Steen's in St. Augustine Florida 50th Anniversary. Their jumbo fried shrimp fresh off their boat everyday has never wavered in color for the 30+ years I have eaten there. No one from the east coast of Florida and Georgia or even the Gulf Coast can or will serve up a plate of Jumbo Shrimp like this. The place is small... 更多
We made a 50 mile detour on our way home to Clermont to stop for lunch at Osteen's, a very popular spot with us for 25 years. It never disappoints. The fried shrimp are simply the best, and as native Floridians, we have tested many. We arrived at 11:30 and waited only 10 minutes (a near record short time). The... 更多
All I can say is 'STAY AWAY!' Soggy, under cooked and bad overall. A typical tourist traP - overpriced and food very overrated.
I am not sure what all the bru-ha-ha is about for this place. I had the "famous" fried shrimp which weren't bad -- just tasteless. What taste they had was of batter and the oil in which they were fried.
I can thank my brother for introducing me to O'Steen's. He kept telling me how good the food was and I was not disappointed. There is always a wait to get in, but when you get your chance to eat it all makes sense. Don't visit O'Steen's without getting the shrimp. Your mouth will thank you.
Every time we tried to go there it was extremely crowed; so we opted to go somewhere else; I'm sure it's wonderful...so we will have to catch it next time
Liked my lunch at O'Steens. The main feature of their menu is fried shrimp. The shrimp was fresh and tasty. I wasn't crazy about the style of batter...I wanted something a little crisper. The local chowder was delicious. The creole shrimp was tops. Most lunches come with main course and two sides. All of our sides were very good. The... 更多
You can always depend on O'Steen's to have the freshest and the best seafood in town, especially the shrimp. It is an institution in St. Augustine. You might just have to wait to get a seat if you show up at lunch time. It is a favorite with the tourists and the locals. If you have to wait you browse... 更多
I've driven past this place hundreds of times. Years ago I stopped, but didn't want to wait. After a hard Florida rain shower, during a light sprinkle - we decided to strike! We waited 5 minutes! I wasn't hungry enough for the giant platter, but wasn't happy to be cornered into a one entree deal. I asked the waitress and... 更多
Okay so we read all the great reviews and especially since it was number 19 of 499 restaurants in St. Augustine, we wanted to make sure we tried the food here. Unfortunately, it was not all that great. We are not sure why so many people are rating the food so high, it was really just fried food, nothing more.... 更多
