Cute little wooden lodge. Perfect if you are camping and you run out of firewood or forget your Hotdogs for the kids.
Mother's Kitchen is a little jewel tucked away on the way to Mount Palomar Observatory. It's fairly basic accommodation (wooden floors, small wooden cabin) but the food is delightful. Vegetarians are well catered for - itself rare in the USA. A bowl of the vegetarian chili was just what we needed on a cold, wet afternoon, and the hunk of... 更多
Was shocked to find a vegetarian spot in the mountains but loved everything we tried! Staff was friendly and I think were pleasantly surprised that we were excited about the vegetarian menu (sounds like some biker-types come in upset there are not burgers, etc). Shortened hours during the week and they close at 4 every day so beware the hours!
A beautiful spot, and friendly staff, fresh food in a pleasant shady garden. Good huevos rancheros. Personally I dislike soya mince, which is the main constituent of many of the dishes, so was a bit disappointed as I'm a vegetarian and was excited to visit a veggie roadside restaurant, but there are a few options that don't include it.
We didn't plan breakfast well on our way to the Palomar Observatory but this little gem turned out to be a great find! 3 stack of pancakes my teenager couldn't finish (too much food), eggs cooked to order, delicious french toast too! Couldn't ask for better! Limited menu (breakfast) but enough to please everyone in our party. Pastries looked delicious,... 更多
This non-profit cafe is the most MN outside of MN. As a Minnesotan, I find this hilarious. It is perpetual Christmas in decoration, efficiency minded in countertop ordering, eco conscious in waster consumption, vegetarian, understated, had wood paneling and a stuffed (not real) bear, and arms-length friendly service. My pozole was delicious and my sandwich was tasty and had great... 更多
This small restaurant is a gem. My husband and I are not vegetarians, but do not mind eating some good vegan/vegetarian here and there. We ordered the posole soup, quesadilla, and the tropical smoothie, all were great. Price is reasonable, portion is served for individual serving, thus does not come large. This is a great stop while visiting the observatory.
Took a drive up to Palomar on a beautiful Fall day to have lunch here. We called to make sure it was open. We thought this was vegetarian but when our soup arrived, it contained meat which was very well cooked and tender. We also ordered a quesadilla and a slice of home made apple pie. Food and service was... 更多
Small vegetarian cafe. Inside & outside seating area. Is the only local place to eat on the mountain it appears. They are only open 9am-4pm daily so don't make dinner plans there. We ate lunch there and it was good decent food but a bit pricey. Friendly staff. Bathrooms are outside. Located 5 miles from the Observatory.
