The place is cute and definitely a throw back to earlier times. The waitress was sweet as can be. The food was good.
After living near here for almost 30 years, we finally decided we must try this place. Right next to Lake Hodges, only restaurant around.... kind of old school, good 'ol boy place... probably hasn't changed in 50 years. Food was good but nothing outstanding. Staff not overly friendly, but our waiter was good! Not many here on a Sunday at... 更多
Mexican food is a staple in this area, and this place used to be a go-to when we had visitors in town. Unfortunately it has gone downhill. The decor, which used to be quaint and interesting is now in need of attention. The mural walls are chipping and flaking and the whole restaurant looks tired and dated. Food was edible... 更多
Summary: This is a really nice off-the-beaten track Mexican place. It's consistently good and I have been here a few times over the years. And will definitely come back again. Food: Genuine Mexican food. We ate in the middle of the afternoon but the food was freshly made and tasted great. Ambiance: Definitely mid-range Mexican in its feel. Comfortable and... 更多
We visited on a Saturday at about 2 PM. They were busy, but there were some open tables. Two of us found the food to be very good and we'd give the Chicken with rice (Arrozo con Polo) a 5 and the chicken crispy tacos a 4 or 5. The lobster tacos were really tasteless with soggy tortillas. The chips... 更多
I had not been at this delightful restaurant for 25 years. It was always a quant hole in the wall but well worth revisiting. We went on a Saturday night and it was packed and very noisy ! I had the Chicken Fajitas and my wife had the Classic Enchilada Pie, both were delightful and exactly what we had expected... 更多
Original deal. A fun low key hang-out with good food and great service. Awesome location across from Lake Hodges. Take a lake hike and then go for lunch and margaritas. Good energy in the place.
Certainly not Great but for atmosphere, attentive owners and for an out of the way change, Hernandez is worth a try. I will say, we've had better from here than on this visit. Our waiter couldn't be bothered. Took the order and that was the last we saw of him until he ran past the table, dropping the bill off... 更多
...As opposed to "American" Mexican food, if you know what I mean. This place has been around for decades! The food is consistently good, the margaritas are delicious, there are traditional old hand-painted murals and servers that have worked there for years. There is a feeling of being far away from the madding crowd, but it's only five-ten minutes from... 更多
Hernandez Hideaway is tucked away in what seems like an unincorporated area right off Lake Hodges. It is a wonderful Mexican restaurant in what was once a house. The building itself seems quite old and possibly was a second home at one time. I love the charm that it has! There's a lively bar and the adjoining dining area features... 更多
