Town seat with an administration building, a mosque and the Church of the Nativity all in one block area.
Nice orientation and regrouping point, a hub of Bethlehem. Busy, a bit chaotic. Place to eat and possibly shop for souvenirs. The heart of the city is though in the Nativity Church.
Having see this place many times on TV I was expecting disapointment, this was not the case. Just wish I could be there on the 25th Dec
The beauty of the square was completely lost by the number of cars parked all over the place. A Christmas tree had been put up and it looked like they were building a stage (maybe for Christmas). At midday when the call to prayer started the men had to stand in the road as the square was full of cars.
This is a large space with diverse and interesting events. We had great food in one of the restaurants and visited the churches in the neighborhood. A pleasant and interesting visit
a nice place with potential to become a unique location if treated properly, can be as significant to this location as the square in front of the Vatican
You get the real feeling of the square rather late in the afternoon when it is less crowded and can have a good look at the Old and Magnificent Church.
