Was invited to join a colleague for lunch and noticed reviews here and on open table were generally good. The service was painfully slow. The food was average. The ambiance was nice but outdated.
This is certainly a hidden spot. Not well known, as it is on the 13th floor in the National Press Club. A venerable old school dining spot, filled with regulars and traditionalists. The place is quiet and comfortable. Waiters who have been there for decades, and know many of the clientele. The menu is very traditional with nothing out of... 更多
Hidden gem in DC in a plain looking building. It's not new, not nouveau, and you won't find "deconstructed" food of any kind here. You will find excellent service, old world ambiance and atmosphere, and a superb meal. It is quiet to be sure, but a great place to have a nice romantic dinner in the heart of the city.... 更多
We didn't even know this place existed and you'd never guess from the street. It's located on the 13th floor of the National Press Building. I stumbled upon a travelzoo coupon for this when looking for a nice dinner in DC. Even without the travelzoo a dinner for two would have only been around $100 which is great for DC.... 更多
Fourth Estate Restaurant on the 13th floor of the National Press Building at 529 14th St NW, Washington DC is an exceptional, elegant evening of fine dining and peaceful bliss. Surrounding by several clubs, hotels, and the hustle and bustle of White House East (Theatre District), this restaurant, it's menu offerings, and solitude is just extraordinary. We had a dinner... 更多
The Fourth Estate Restaurant on the 13th floor of the National Press Building is right in that venerable National Press Club, and it's open to the public (although there are no signs telling anything). I highly recommend lunch, with some time allotted to walking around to see the fabulous photos taken by fabulous news photographers. Food and service are good,... 更多
This is a GREAT SECRET in Washington. Few folks -- locals and tourists -- know that the National Press Club has opened its fancy restaurant to non-members. Food is good, and the ambiance is fabulous. Be sure pause and check out the photos on the walls while walking down the hallway to the Fourth Estate restaurant. A LOT of history... 更多
Service is excellent. Very stately environment, though some might say a bit stuffy. A lot of historical pictures and artifacts; felt like a museum. I had the tenderloin- perfectly cooked. Nice size portion, wonderful veggies and potatoes on the side. My dinner companion had the salad with spicy pecans with strawberries (wonderful!) and the MD Crabcakes. Small, but no filler.... 更多
I organized a large dinner for ~25 people. From start to finish, the staff were amazing. Professional, efficient, and accommodating. The service was perfect. The food was delicious. Cannot recommend highly enough. Ten Stars!
Took a spontaneous trip to DC to take in the cherry blossoms and managed to find a discount voucher for this place which was located near our hotel. It was a Thursday evening, as described by other reviewers it wasn't crowded, very quiet. The service was excellent and we were both delighted with our meal choices. I loved the veal... 更多
