We want to try beer at Zelena Kocka beerpub, but there are no food there, than coming here, to the restaurant. They have 5 beers and was really nice. I had a Svickova, which was beautiful, worth to try it.
Before I went there with my gf, I read some comments uploaded on tripadvisor and I felt it must be something wrong with service and can't be a good place but my gf pushed to go there because it's close to the city centre and it was 1st of Jan so better rated restaurants were unfortunately closed. This restaurant is well known for their wide offer of top class beer. But as I do not drink beer, I was against organizing a meeting there. I was pleasantly surprised to find really nice bottles wine. Both my friends and me liked the dishes prepared and served. Thanks.

Closely to the main square Svoboďák is Zelená kočka restaurant with excellent czech beer and cuisine. I love their sauerkraut soup and champignons filled with cheese. Both for non-smokers and smokres (outside garden).
The beer here from the Dalesicky brewery and others is fabulous and the food is good too. Close to the town centre this definitely worth a visit
We ate at the Pivovarsky restaurant (not the Grand Restaurant Zelena Kocka) twice during a recent short break in Brno. Traditional place with good beer. Not posh food but good value for city centre. The same waiter served us on both visits and he was helpful and friendly. We liked the atmosphere and character of this place.
This pub is good choice for their excellent beer and so-so food (sometimes great, sometimes oily). But the stuff is bored and arrogant, sometimes they are joking for account of guests - but it isn't funny for guests themselves.
