Came here on a very rainy night without a reservation. They took us to the back covered patio area, which we were wary about on a cold night, but it was very warm with blankets and overhead heaters and we were more than comfortable. The food was all very tasty, but it was a little expensive. Service was excellent.
Ok so I went here in the recommendations on here and was probably a bit disappointed compared to others. Ill start by saying the service was excellent and the girls were lovely. Now the food.... I ask the waitress what to have coz I couldn't decide between the rib and the duck dishes. She said go with the beef as... 更多
We weren't expecting much from restaurants in Te Anau. That was our mistake. The food here was exceptional: every bit as fresh and innovative as you'd expect to find in a competitive capital city. Special shout for the kid's meal too - one of the most creative we've every seen.
We looked forward to our visit here and first up, the food was excellent. But in my opinion, restaurants need to deliver not only good food but service as well. This could have been an off night or the staff was just not prepared the cold snap that hit town. We were seated in a little alcove of four tables... 更多
One of the best secret spots we have ever experienced. From the second we walked in we were greeted warmly and the hospitality provided throughout the night was outstanding! And THE FOOD! We tried the Wild Hare Backstrap and the Venison. Desert was a home made plum tarté tatin and a cheese plate with home made crackers, blue cheese, manuka... 更多
I was here with a group of 15. We sat in the outside area, enclosed by plastic sheets (not at all tacky!) and warmed by overhead heaters, with blankets on the chairs for extra cosiness. The menu features a variety of wild meats, including hare, venison and goat. I like rabbit and so opted for the hare - succulent strips... 更多
Had a great night with friends. Menu was small but the meals were amazing and the desserts and cocktails to die for. Staff friendly and very welcoming.
The restaurant is in a charming old building - unusual for Te Anau. Staff are friendly and very accommodating. The chef even changed the accompanying cheese souffle to my main course as I am allergic to goat's cheese. It was delicious. Food prepared to a high standard and good size portions. Highly recommended
Our server Tamarra recommended the wild deer and explained the difference between the wild deer and the herds of deer that were being raised and grazed in pastures we saw while driving in the region. The deer steak was outstanding. Nice wine selection and delicious pumpkin soup as a starter. Don't miss this stop when your in Te Anau!
Tasty, quaint, authentic and perfectly cooked wild game. Went there twice in 3 days. All four of us throughly enjoyed the different dishes that we tried.
This is a lovely restaurant with a nice setting, good service and all the courses were nicely paced. The food was well presented and was pretty good, but the execution did fall a little short of excellent: I had a starter or home cured meats, which was delicious. I opted for the Duck Leg oriental style for my main course.... 更多
An unexpected surprise for a small town. Worthy of a "1 hat" rating (this is an Australian rating system, meaning very, very good). Service brilliant considering most waiting staff are travellers. The entire menu was superbly presented. Had ocean trio to start with. Delightful mix of smoked groper, groper ceviche and smoked salmon and cream cheese. Try the local wine... 更多
