Wonderful home cooked food in a beautiful setting. The soup and bread were delicious, venison stew appetising and the ginger cake outstanding!
Popped in for a quick midweek luncj. Sandwiches, a soup and drinks. "A Tuna mayo on brown....." "Anything else?" "a ham and piccalilli on brown..." "Have we got enough ham?" ".. one left...' "a ham, what bread?" "Brown and a soup please" "Is that all from the back?" "Yes. Two teas and a hot chocolate please" "There's your teas milk... 更多
Opposite the Cathedral is the Prior's Kitchen Cafe. Down some steps and you are led into the medieval settings of the cafe. We only had a tea/coffee and cake here, so cannot comment on the food. Good selection of tea, even though you felt the tea tray was thrown at you to make a choice. I'm not sure if the... 更多
The Prior's Kitchen is not a place I visit often these days, in the old days (80's/90's) it was always a great place to go, cosy and welcoming with good home made food, however over recent years I have been put off by the brusque, unfriendly and unprofessional service from the staff so stopped going. Needs must however and on... 更多
We arrived at opening time and were hungry for breakfast after a long drive. Staff were friendly and happy to knock up a scrambled egg on toast which wasn't on the menu. Nice atmosphere and we enjoyed a peaceful cuppa and breakfast before visiting the wonderful cathedral. The only slight downside was that it was pretty pricey for what it... 更多
My wife & I regularly use this restaurant when shopping in Carlisle, and were somewhat surprised at the management change when we went for a snack lunch today. We elected to have our usual soup & sandwich, which is now no longer available on the more limited menu as a package deal. Notwithstanding, we ordered, and were served with over-seasoned... 更多
We dropped in here for a warm drink while exploring Carlisle City. The drinks were okay but the flapjacks could have been cooked a bit more for our tastes - we like em crispy! Prices not too bad.
Had lunch here two of the days during out Stay in Carlisle. The meals we had were excellent and wholesome and very reasonable priced. The Prior Kitchen also caters for people who have diet restrictions. (eg: Gluten Free) Staff were very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely visit again next year.
We’ve been going to the Prior’s Kitchen at Carlisle Cathedral for several years, ever since we read a glowing review in the Cumbria Life magazine. It’s a real find hidden away in the Cathedral grounds. The food is delicious and varied and the staff are always friendly and helpful. We usually have soup and a soda bread roll, followed by... 更多
There's a new chef; a new menu; and it's very busy, which says a lot. And they open for breakfast now. We had the whole grilled plaice, and the lamb tagine, Both absolutely excellent, especially the fish which must have jumped straight out of the water, it was so fresh. Samphire with all the woody, tough bits careful taken away... 更多
