On the recommendation of a colleague, we booked in for a boozy lunch. Out of this world: simple food and extravagant (but cheap) wines. Will return.
Great venue for a glass of wine and some cheese and salamis. Tucked in the vaulted cellar (no phone signal) is a great escape from a busy London. Nothing fancy, just good wine and knowledgeable staff. Take a client, spouse or partner and enjoy yourselves the 'old fashioned way' by speaking to each other and forgetting about your iPhone/blackberry for... 更多
If you want to drink a wine that would be £100 in a restaurant and you only want to pay £30 go here where they decant it for you. The guy who runs it is very knowledgable and helpfull with any pretention. The food is buffet style, good quality but just to assist the drinking of the wine.
Not a book in sight just floor to ceiling wine racked as books would be in the library. Select a bottle and take it to be 'read' with balancing cheeses!
Good position a stone's throw from the Tower, just by Trinity House and the memorial garden to seafarers at war. Closer still to the exit from Tower Hill tube. A mix of wine merchant, wine bar and restaurant. Only used it to quaff a shared bottle and then a second. We didn't eat but small snacks available and ww could... 更多
I usually pride myself about my knowledge of London , cause I usually go there, without fail whenever there is a funeral or wedding, approximately every 7.5 years.? So, I am a bad tourist who thinks he knows it all. This delightful quirky place , blew my mind. In a cellar, fabulous wine , excellent choice, top quality charcuterie. Came here... 更多
I have been visiting The Wine Library for many years and it never disappoints. There is a great selection of wines in serried shelves - just like a conventional library, together with excellent cheeses from Phillipe Olivier in Boulogne, a selection of charcuterie, pate and quiche but no hot food. Service from long term proprietor Peter Prescott is friendly and... 更多
This hidden away gem is truly worth the visit, you go in, select your own bottle of wine, pay and take it into 'the cave' to enjoy with your friends! Grand selection, lovely unpretentious hosts! Nice and simple yet tasty small bites.
First of all it was difficult to find, then we thought it's closed. In the end we managed to get in (some steps down the street into an underground location). It is extremely small, but in a "celler" way, not cosy. Maybe it was wrong to advertise as a place where you can eat. It is primarely a place to... 更多
