Classic no nonsense Chinese restaurant ambience: disposable plastic bag tablecloth and dark rudimentary bathroom. Your money is in the food. Kids loved the HK style soft shell crab. They were not so crazy about the black bean sauced razor clams.
I had been to Xam Yu on a previous visit to Toronto and thought it was very good notwithstanding one dish that was average so I decided to give it another go. I decided to give the razor clams another go and then ordered the black snapper on the recommendation of the waiting staff. The black snapper turned out to... 更多
I love Xam yu and it is my second favorite chinese restaurant. I would give it 4.5 stars if I could. I am not a seafood person however all the beef and chicken dishes on a sizzling hot plate are always excellent. Parking is sometimes a problem but check the side streets and maybe you will have to walk a... 更多
Authentic and tasty, Xam Yu has a great menu with many tasty specials. While seafood is their specialty, I've often eaten other dishes and been highly satisfied. This is my go to spot in Toronto for good Chinese food!
Was taken here by local food lovers - if not I probably would not have gone through the door. But first impressions can be deceptive. Ignore the decor, the plastic tablecloths, and the menu. Just ask them to feed you. The food is wonderful. Great seafood. We had Alaskan King Crab, clams, king prawn, chop suey and every dish was... 更多
I have been at this restaurant with a friend last summer and was impressed by their walnut prawn in creamy sauce and broccoli, automatically our instant favourite. We had lychee chicken as well, it does seem a weird combo but it actually doesn't taste bad but not on my top 5. We ordered exactly the same food the other night,... 更多
Walked to Chinatown without reservation, long queue at Shewan and Lee Garden, so randomly chose this restaurant which had some recommendations in the window. Great choice! Full of local diners, which is usually a good sign. Waitress brusque but steered us towards good choices. Shrimp and veg spring rolls deliciously crisp and tasty, moved on to crispy beef, prawn and... 更多
I suppose the issue is consistency. My last visit to Toronto provided an unimpressive Xam Yu experience as I noted in the review. But on each visit I simply must go there, so recently I did, once again. This time it did not disappoint. As I usually do, I ordered the double lobster with ginger sauce, and snails with black... 更多
