Had dinner one night and breakfast twice while here on Saltspring..Good food and great service would recommend to friends...
We knew that this place has been here for years and always seems busy, so we dropped in for lunch. There is no atmosphere whatsoever - it's a noisy concrete room with an unwelcoming entryway. We had the specials - my "crispy chicken burger" was made with disappointing frozen chicken(less) nuggets and some of my friend's perogies were tasty thanks... 更多
It was a rainy day. We had good coffee - Dickson's. Surprise! Good eggs and sausage/bacon breakfast. It seemed that locals got better service/more attention than visitors like us.
Our meals arrived promptly and hot. The breakfast until 3 PM was a hit with the 9 year old. Food was tasty and good quality. The place was bustling when we got there and the two women serving handled the crowd with good humour and brisk efficiency. We will be going back.
Exactly what it looks like - a functional diner to get a cheap, filling breakfast. Normally I'd include "fast" but, you know, it's the island, fast isn't happening. I've only had breakfast, which is good - extra points for American-style hash browns.
Not bad, average, ok. Seafood chowder and Dagwood poutine was mine. Chowder had floury taste, not seasoned much. Same with the poutine. Since it had the Dagwood name, I was expecting something special. Ate 1/4, and left the rest. My sons burger was above average so maybe that's the trick.
We stopped here for breakfast because it opened before most of the other restaurants on Salt Spring Island. Typical diner food but place was clean and staff was friendly.
