The ice cream equals any I've had anywhere (and that includes Rome, Florence, and anywhere in the US). Not too sweet, not too rich. The fruit flavors (lemon cream and strawberry cream) are particularly good. Get the cajeta (goat milk caramel) if you're feeling adventurous.
Local flavors with real fruit, chunks of dulce de leche, or made with a sour orange (naranjito). The place is always hopping, for good reason. Worth going out of your way.
I had the coconut ice cream in a waffle bowl - amazingly good...easy to find right across from the pier. My friend asked the worker what her favorite flavor was - she ordered it-passion fruit. Intense flavor!

It's still a very good ice cream place but it used to be excellent. They basically have 2 general kinds: "de agua" which is a sorbet, and "de leche" which is an gelato type ice cream Some of the flavors are unusual like the Cherimoya which was quite good, but watch out for the seeds
