Excellent Cou Cou and Flying Fish! Go and try it out.! Visited yesterday on the Lickrish Food Tour, which I highly recommend too.
Got suggestion for Mustors from Tripadvisor reviews and it does deliver. Local food (flying fish a favourite along with cou cou and macaroni pie). Unassuming - funky, upstairs restaurant with downstairs chow house and bar.... if you want local and not "sandals" this is it. Three blocks off Hero Square.
I haven't been to the main restaurant in many years but the last time I took friends they had a fabulous Bajan meal which they said was very fresh and tasty. This is a must if you visit Bridgetown Barbados great tasting food, best fried pork chops ever, had with cou cou dish of the island. Mustor's have been around for over 30 years and is a family run business. The prices are reasonable and the quantity you get keeps you going for hours .
I stayed with my Bajan friends, many of the places we visited were really for locals. Mustor's has great food reasonably priced. Had fried King Fish and Macaroni pie, absolutely delicious.
We received a recommendation from one of the bartenders at the Mt.Gay rum tour and were very happy. Small off the beaten location with local dishes. The stewed chicken was very flavorful and the wife had the flying fish, also a great choice. If you are looking for local fare at reasonable price, this is the place.
