The beef was generous and reasonably tender, and it looked good. However, the dish had far too much soya sauce thrown at it, and had a weird taste I couldn't work out (maybe very old ginger powder).
Love the outside murals on the building. Arrived to see it was a busy wee place. We sat over by the window as it was really hot and stuffy there. Only to find you couldn't open a window and no air conditioning. The staff were friendly and extremely busy! The food was really good. We will call in again
Came here for lunch on our first day in Catlins. Has a breakfast, lunch and dinner menu. We found they had a variety of drinks including alcoholic. Had a range of different lunch items including cabinet food to suit different budgets. Menu food was a good size. The Ice coffees were very nice as well. Casual dining, family friendly.
Kind of an attempt at fusion food. The chicken pasta bake was acceptable but the rest of the mains had some kind of sweet (Thai?) sauce that didn't go down quite well. We had wanted to dine at the nearby Lumberjack Cafe but they were booked for a private event that evening.
Our family stopped for lunch on Saturday of a busy holiday weekend. The staff were friendly and helpful. Good varied choice of food on the menu and we were told our food would be ready in 20 minutes, which it was, freshly cooked and piping hot. Reasonable prices and generous sized portions.
We were travelling from Invercargill to Dunedin and this cafe provided us with a delicious lunch. My husband and I both decided on the Angus beef and cheese pie which was delicious. They have toilets available for customers.
