Watched Orcas going south and then stayed for the sunset, what a beautiful sight. Not a lot of amenities at this location but it makes up for it with the views. Good place for photographers looking mostly westward.
July is a great time to see the resident pod of Orcas that call the San Juan Islands home. We saw whales both days from the day use portion of this park. This area also is an amazing place to view the sunset across Haro Strait. This park has a boat launch in Smallpox Bay. We launched our kayak from...
I had a great time at this campground. Stayed 3 days and 2 nights. The lots are close together and one night everyone heard a young child screaming all night, perhaps not the best site for young children. The rangers were kind and helpful.
I had an amazing experience when superpod swam by. I was transfixed for over an hour...
This was the hardest reservation I have ever tried to score. If you can wait until the kids are back in school you should be able to get a reservation. Try in July for September. Beautiful park, could watch orcas from my campsite. The 10PM curfew (fires out) is a bit early and strictly enforced, at 10:00:01 she will be...
Stayed in the overflow but sill awesome, nice ocean shore campsites even nicer walk in or bike in sites in the forest overlooking the ocean . Leave your car in Anacortes take the ferry and bike (uphill) 1.5 - 2 km- s to the camp sites . The whole island it's quiet and serene , love it.
-Fabulous ocean views!
-Great kayak launching area.
-You can make online reservations thus ensuring you have a campsite.
-On-site manager was very helpful and friendly.
-As other reviewers have commented, the campsites are very close together and not private. I would recommend campsite #10 (small but vacant on 1 side) or campsite #16 (much larger site; also vacant...
The county has got a great spot on the water and woods for its residents, guests & tourists. Very relaxing area which includes hiking, picnicking and just hanging out! Great place for the family and for taking pictures. Views are spectacular and far as the eye can see. Worth a visit to the west side of the island to experience.
We have camped in our tents here up in the quiet corner (we love number 10) but have also recently camped in our old RV (same spot). It is a diverse and cute little spot - with a great launch beach for kayakers and camping spots dedicated to tents and biker/backpackers up on the scenic bluff. The bathrooms are clean...
This place is a true gem! Although campsites are not very private- the property itself is in an ideal location. Our campsite was steps away from ocean views, and we were fortunate to see several orcas (mom & new babies!!) within an hour of our arrival!! Also, we were able to go on a kayak tour right from the campground...
We really enjoyed staying here for 3 nights. The view is beautiful. I highly recommend reservations as there is around 20 sites. Great beach to take your kayak out. No showers, but flushing toilets (woohoo!) Its a very basic campground .. no thrills or entertainment. It was exactly what we were looking for; quiet, beauty and relaxation. I would defiantly...
