Staff was very friendly, provided area maps and plenty of tips about the local attractions (Laura Ingalls Wilder homestead and historical sites),
Hotel is older, but kept up well, rooms are remodeled nicely.
Choices in De Smet were limited, but I was happy with this location. Prices were reasonable, the staff was friendly, and my room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast choices were limited (unless you love toast--lots of bread choices!)--I would have liked yogurt or fruit available. I enjoyed the pool. The exercise room was temporarily being used for storage, but...
We have stayed at this hotel a few times, and have never had a bad experience. The kids always enjoy the pool and the rooms are pretty nice. They recently just upgraded to flat screen tv's too, which was nice the last time we stayed. It is a little on the pricey side, though, for what it is.
This is about the only game in town. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and convenient for our trip to visit the Laura Ingalls Wilder sites in De Smet. The pool was overheated and breakfast was disappointing in its lack of healthy choices. The fitness center was pretty much nonexistent. However, we had a good night's rest and the price was...
Room was nice enough, pretty standard and clean. The pool was nice, we did enjoy that. On the negative side, the night desk clerk was very rude and the continental breakfast was a choice of toast or cereal, no fruits, yogurts etc. The coffee tasted burnt.
Basic, nice, clean, and comfortable stay. Very friendly staff.
Breakfast needs improvement, but for the price and location it was not that bad.
The beds were comfortable and the there was plenty of hot water for the shower. I would have no problem choosing this place again.
This place is quiet, even when they are totally full. Stayed for 3 nights and had no problems. Staff very attentive to your needs. Very close to the attractions and downtown. I will stay here again if I am ever in the area.
Sometimes we just have to lower our expectations when we visit other places. For the price, I expected something more than bare mediocrity. The room was HOT when we checked in, and had a musty smell. The elevator was the slowest I think I have ever been on. The whole place is old, showing its age and infirmities. That super...
This hotel gets terrible reviews on Priceline, so I had very low expectations. However, it was adequate. Very dated, but clean. It was so cheap I didn't expect much. The breakfast is very lack luster, but there is nowhere to eat in De Smet, so you are pretty much stuck with it.
Overall a clean hotel with great customer service.
Decent place for a visit to the Laura Ingalls Homestead and other places in town but kind of weird. A lot of rules (random signs like no swim suits on the bed, no large cups for juice at breakfast, cereal is not allowed to go to the room, and milk is for cereal only), not cleaned well. Decor is dated
