One can hardly imagine the destruction caused by the earth quakes during the late sixties.
It is such a treat to walk down the old main street and read the history of each restored building and to visit the old church at the end of the street.
Wandering around this town has always been enjoyable and it still is in these days - visiting some of the wonderful homes with great veggie gardens is a treat. You maybe lucky and feel a little earth tremor to remind you of the destruction cause about 38 years ago
Considering that much of historic Tulbagh was destroyed in the earthquake of 1969, it is wonderful to experience the beautifully restored Church Street. Good information from the Tourism Bureau, excellent free maps of town attractions and enthusiastic locals make Tulbagh an interesting and enjoyable place to visit.
