Very interesting collection of all sorts of items, arranged in rooms according to themes, and all apparently from local area, giving a good insight into the local past. It would be worth giving yourself plenty of time, as there is plenty to see!!
We never seem to get tired of this museum. There's enough to keep you interested for at least a couple of hours.......for very little cash. It's a well presented record of Nidderdale and it's rich and varied past. It even has the old wooden playground rocking horse that our kids used to play on in the park.
We were staying near Pateley Bridge and thought we would visit this museum. It is brilliant and I would recommend anyone else young or old, to do the same. Whilst on holiday in the area we had a look around the village of pateley bridge, very pretty village and lovely riverside walk,then we discovered the museum which we thought we would have a quick look around and ended up spending over two hours in there as it has so many exhibits. It gives the visitor a good understanding of bygone days and an appreciation of how life was lived. The workhouse was particularly fascinating and showed how hard it must have been for people who had to enter it.
We walked from main Street to muse.um,its not far but there is a car park if you want to drive there,follow the signs to workhouse museum. There are quite a lot of steep steps up to entrance inside. Not sure if any lift,you may need to phone them if disabled.It's very cheap entrance fee and children go free if accompanied... 更多
