It is a good day outing near Bangalore just 60-65 kms from the main city. I would suggest to avoid the place during monsoon. At the first sight, you may find it too steep. We started at around 1p from Bangalore. Reached there at 2.45 and started the trek immediately. We were on top at around 4.30p. We spent half an hour on top and started down. Took an hour and half. The climb to Savandurga was an exhilarating experience. We were 8 of us who did this trek in preparation for our Tarsar Marsar trek to Kashmir. The climb is steep. The view from the top is fantastic. It's not slippery (kind of rough) and and at steep inclines, there are small grooves to enhance the grip. There are electric poles that mark the direction. If you can't spot them, follow the electric poles. Needs a lot of energy and stamina. Don't underestimate looking at the height.

Savandurga trek is very good place to trek for beginners (as we were) and its also not far from bangalore(nearly 60-70km). It was not easy but it was fun. Awesome place to visit with friend. Really awesome if you go with bike. Restaurant are very rare. You need to take food along with you when u climbing the rock. Place not for fatty person.
