We had our friends from Malta for there holidays here in Kirkkonummi,Finland last summer,so we took them Hvitträsk.We really enjoyed it.Good food, nice views etc.
The place everyone should visit is the museum. But you'll get nice experience of the place just walking around the area -take a path to the graves and from there down to the beach.
Beautiful place to spend a hour or two in nature. The architecture in the house is interesting but you will need to know something about Finnish art history to really appreciate it. The cafe and restaurant are good quality at reasonable prices
This makes a lovely day trip out of Helsinki. The houses in the compound, designed by Eliel Saarinen, father of Eero, and the partners in his architectural practice. The buildings and their interiors are in the Finnish arts & craft style, reminiscent of Jugenstihl. Aside from the interest in architecture and design, the houses are located in a stunning location... 更多
Beautiful house, well restored, I would come back here again! The gardens are beautiful and there is a long staircase down to the water. If you don't want to climb the stairs back to the top, there is a path that leads back up to the house that is slightly less steep
We travelled from Helsinki to see this example of real Finnish design and we're thrilled to visit this arts and craft style home. The location overlooking the lake is stunning and the gardens are lovely for a picnic.
It's interesting to see the three architectural styles come together into one complex. I suggest stopping at the cafe for a quick lunch if possible. We enjoyed the food and a cup of tea.
Hvitrask is exquisite. A group of architects lived here and the design of the whole building is wonderful. There are motifs in the main rooms which are picked up in miniature in the charming nursery, and the jugenstil of the buildings and contents combines traditional Finnish folk character with pleasing early 20C design. I never tire of the place, and... 更多
Hvitträsk is definitely worth a trip, no matter the weather. It shows character in every weather and the house feels like a living entity with different moods in different lightings. Even if there are a lot of tourists around, they seem to disappear into the vast grounds and you have room to move (except on Christmas market days, so I've... 更多
Architecture fans should definitely make the trip, especially if you're a Frank Lloyd Wright or Eero Saarinen fan or have any interest in Arts & Crafts or Art Nouveau (e.g., if you love Barcelona). It was also nice to get out of Helsinki and into the beautiful Finnish countryside. We took the train to Luoma (definitely no taxis there--barely a... 更多
